Stanhopea nigroviolacea Vanilla Orchid Upside Down Orchid

Stanhopea nigroviolacea Vanilla Orchid Upside Down Orchid

An unusual and beautiful, very fragrant Mexican species of Stanhopea orchids. This is one of the largest flowering forms of a Stanhopea. With an incredible strong and sweet perfume reminiscent of vanilla. Flowers last for about 3-5 days. And open in succession. Mature plants send out flower spikes a number of times per year. A must have for those interested in orchids. They are a tough and hardy garden orchid species. And can be grown outdoors under patios and trees. And do not need the protection of greenhouses in temperate and sub tropical environments.

Our plants are grown in 200mm plastic baskets as seen in the above pictures. The base of which is cut out and lined with paperbark to allow the flower stems to poke through. Our plants are mature flowering sized plants.

Please note - these orchids will come with imperfections on leaves and paeudobulbs. They are grown without the use of chemicals and in an outdoor environment under trees. They are not grown in greenhouses and protected from the environment. By growing them in this way they are tough and hardened and ready to go into the garden.
